The receiver starts as a block of machinable wax. The lockplates and mock barrel are screwed on.
The basic outline is milled into the wax.
Various stages of the wax pattern as it is carved. After finishing this prototype, we will make a mold enabling duplication of these patterns to be cast into bronze for the additional replicas.
Here is the prototype bronze casting being shaped, the lockplates inletted and views of the receiver and lock assemblies.
These five images of the inner receiver, cock, lug and lever demonstrate the movement of the striker lug in the jaws of the cock. Also observe the progressive movements of the lever and valve actuating rod.

These three images demonstrate cocking. Note the lug pivoting outward as it passes the lever. A flat spring flips the lug back into position at full cock.
The transfer port is installed. 3/8" copper tube in this prototype. Note the oilite bronze guide and port in the receiver.
